- 2018 Pittsburgh Women's March -

I had a wedding-free weekend last week and that gave me the chance to photograph the Pittsburgh Women's March on Sunday.

I was born screaming, so marches, riots and political gatherings make me feel right at home. I've photographed some violent and chaotic marches in places like NYC, LA and San Francisco, but Sunday's march in Pittsburgh was a heart-opening mix of anger and love. Reading many of the banners, it was obvious how angry and divisive this country is, and it made me feel so very hopeful to see how many people felt so strongly. This is how change and upheaval happen, and I love documenting this historic time. I especially felt that way when I had the chance to photograph the GINORMOUS women's march in DC last year. That was a life changing experience.

Pittsburgh, I love your anger and your beauty. I'm including a few images with the sculpture of our beloved Mayor Caligiuri in the foreground, because that was the feeling I got from him that day as he overlooked his beloved people - that he loved your anger and your beauty.

Here are a few of my favorites. And if you would like to see a way cool video of the march, check out John Craig's latest creation. Pittsburgh never looked so wonderful.
